CORE CRITERIA FOR FOREIGN PRODUCERS

STRUCTURE

Two routes to access the credit:

-EP model (Executive Production): the Italian executive producer contracts and pays the post-production.
100% of the post-production budget is eligible; a 40% tax credit applies to the whole post bucket.
Minimum eligible Italian spend: €250,000, combining production + post.

– PP model (Post-Production only): the Italian PP company invoices directly.
Only eligible cost items qualify; the effective base is <100% of the post budget. Effective benefit: up to 40% on the post budget.
Minimum eligible Italian spend: €250,000 limited to post-production only.

SCOPE

Foreign-commissioned audiovisual works (film, series, web, docs, animation) provided the project meets cultural eligibility.

INCENTIVE

A 40% tax credit applies to eligible Italian costs, with a minimum local spend of €250,000 and an annual cap of €20 million per company or group.

MONETIZATION

The credit can be used to offset taxes and may be transferred/assigned to banks, insurance companies, or financial intermediaries to enable earlier monetization.

CULTURE

Projects must score at least 50/100 on the cultural test. Points are awarded across Content (up to 70) and Production (up to 30)—including items like Italian/EU themes, setting/language, and work performed in Italy.
